A sushi counter on lower Fillmore, in the old jazz district
Yoeechee opened on lower Fillmore in May 2026, on the blocks between Geary and Ellis that the city has tried to rebuild as a jazz district since redevelopment leveled the original one. The format is a small sushi counter.
This stretch has struggled with vacancies for years, so each opening carries more weight here than on a busier street. The Fillmore, the music venue, is two blocks north, and that's what sets the timing for most evenings on the block.

Takeout only store. Quality is really good! I grabbed a tekka don and ate at a park nearby. There are a range of items, futo maki, assorted rice “bowls”, nigiri and chirashi

The hype is absolutely real with this place. Caught it open by accident around 5pm and tried their salmon box ($23). Incredibly delicious, the type of fish that melts in your mouth. I want to go back and try their premium fishes next time. A bit more expensive ($53) but it should be worth it. Super friendly staff too!

I walked in around 1130 and they had everything in stock. The lady was very nice and suggested I try the omakase box. I thought I was walking into the previous sushi shop and figured it out so decided to try them anyways. Food was fresh but didn’t really have taste and the toro, my favorite, was most disappointing in cute and flavor. I agree with the comments on the sushi rice having no flavor. I’m glad I tried it but wouldn’t go out of my way to go back. This also feels to be a more Korean sushi experience and perhaps it’s a matter of preference.

The gentleman was very helpful in guiding me through the variety of selections available. Everything looks amazing. My only disappointment was me choosing only 1 selection. It was fresh, melt in my mouth fish, and so delicious 😋. Sushi rice was made perfectly. Homemade soy. Pickled vegetables was a great compliment to the whole dish. My next trip to Yoeechee, I will have to be at least 2 selections.

I visited during dinner time, and everything was incredibly fresh with no fishy taste at all. The eel rice bowl was delicious, the eel had a nice chewy texture and was perfectly seasoned. The 6-piece nigiri sushi set was exactly what you’d hope for: fresh, high-quality fish with great balance and flavor. The salmon don was served with half fresh salmon sashimi and half grilled salmon, which made for a nice variety of flavors and textures. It was especially good when wrapped in the seaweed provided. The atmosphere felt like a premium sushi takeout spot, clean, modern, and upscale. Even during the dinner rush, all of the seafood tasted very fresh. Unfortunately, they were sold out of uni when I visited😢 so I’ll definitely be coming back to try it next time. They seem to offer a wide variety of sushi options, and if you’re looking for the best selection, I’d recommend visiting during lunch hours!!
