Marcus Samuelsson's rooftop over NoMa
Sly is the rooftop half of Marcus Samuelsson's takeover of the Morrow Hotel in NoMa, open since April 2025. The restaurant downstairs, Marcus DC, followed two months later.
It is a big terrace by DC standards and it fills fast once the weather turns. Come early on a Thursday or accept that you will be standing.

I want to like this place... but the food kinda ruins it. The service is great! Everyone is kind and attentive. No notes there. The atmosphere is awesome! good decor and vibes inside, but the patio is the best part. There's basically nowhere else in DC where you can get such a gorgeous view of the city including union station, the capitol, etc. Unfortunately, we had a variety of issues with the food that we got. Portion sizes are suuuper small for the price, especially the pasta. A lot of the ingredients also seemed low quality or straight up tasted bad, we ended up sending 2 things back. All things considered the staff was very understanding and did take the items off the check, also offering us something else instead. The manager even came back and asked us what specifically was wrong. Since the other aspects of Sly Rooftop were enjoyable, I'm willing to try this place again. Hopefully this was just a one off bad experience.

Amazing restaurant. The view from the rooftop is great, can see a lot from there. The altitude helps bring the breeze and reduces the humidity. The server named Marta was amazing. She was professional, helpful with all our questions. (We came in a group of 6). The food was great, a small and seasonal menu. I loved the fries. A great experience overall, I would definitely come again.

Beautifully nestled in the area atop the hotel with a beautiful view. The area is a bit tight but beautiful situated. I did love the couches. They added a level of sophistication. I kept it simple. We got a Chuck's Scramble with Shrimp cocktail and Bellini's. The scramble was a massive traditional All American with soft scramble eggs. Everything was cold except them. However i liked the hard schell on the potatoes. The shrimp looked beautifully seasoned but was bland. Definitely not the best bites but for the location and taste of the drinks. I was chill.

Among the best kept secrets in DC! Great happy hour 4-7P, Tues-Thurs. Cool view of the Capitol and Washington Monument. Plenty of room for a large group. Near the rail stop. The mushroom adobo nachos were tasty. Limited menu (it’s a rooftop bar) so I rated accordingly.

Went for brunch and it was a yummy time! Felt like the food was a little over (definitely not a medium steak or soft scrambled eggs and the potatoes were real brown). The chicken and waffles were a little underwhelming. It was 12 noon and there was no bartender so we couldn’t get a drink. The truffle fries were good!
