Tarì Trattoria

★ 4.2 · 42 reviews Washington, D.C. Opened June 2025

Fish dry-aged in house, southern Italian

Francesco Amodeo opened Tarì on Morse Street in June 2025, adding another Italian option to a Union Market block that already had several.

The menu is rewritten weekly. Pasta is made fresh, vegetables follow the season, and the fish is dry-aged in house, which is still unusual enough in DC to be the reason to go.

Fun, somewhat quirky Italian seafood place. Interesting, primarily seafood, menu. Excellent cocktails, small but very interesting wine list. Had a great example of a rare Italian grape, Susumaniello, very fairly priced. Food good to very good, an aged halibut, somewhat funky (in a good way) tasting, fresh pasta with soft shell crab, oysters, excellent head on prawns with green sauce. Excellent wait staff. Overall fun and different, deserves more customers!

I celebrated Easter this past Sunday at Tari with my family and had such a lovely time! We went for brunch and I tried the carbonara pasta cake and the rabbit leg, both were absolutely delicious, truly to die for. The service was fantastic, and Brent was on top of everything. Can’t wait to come back!

Tari Trattoria has an amazing happy hour with $9 wines, $10 spritzes, and $13–15 pastas, plus some really great snacks. I loved the $5 capri and ended up ordering more than one. The spritz was also a standout—super refreshing and well-balanced. The pesto pasta was great, and I also had the pomodoro, which did not disappoint. Overall, this is a really solid happy hour spot with good vibes and flavorful food. The only downside is that some of my friends noticed a slight smell, and we saw incense burning, which made them feel like it might have been masking it. Aside from that, it was a great experience and definitely worth checking out. Service was great as well- server was attentive

Upscale trattoria that we don’t deserve. Seafood that we cannot find anywhere else. I keep coming back for the fresh pasta and evolving menu. This level of cuisine and experience is even hard to find as a tourist in Italy. IFKYK

My experience at Tari Trattoria was absolutely exquisite! It started at the bar with Ulf, who made me a delicious Boss Lady cocktail the perfect way to begin the evening. From there, every dish was a delight: the Amalfi Antica and Ceviche ,Mare were fresh and flavorful, the Bolognese was rich and comforting, the Ippogloso (Halibut) was perfectly cooked, and the Fisherman’s Stew was simply outstanding. And dessert… the Lemon Sponge Cake is to die for! Everything, from the service to the food and ambiance was perfection. We will definitely be coming back!
