Oxtail pho with bottomless broth, by a former butcher

Phoxotic ran as a dinner party pop-up before taking a permanent room on Rhode Island Avenue in July 2025. The chef used to be a butcher and sources beef locally, which shows up in the oxtail pho and the bone marrow.

The broth simmers 24 hours, is halal-friendly, and comes with unlimited refills. That is the only bottomless offer in DC worth arranging your afternoon around.

We'd already tried most of the Vietnamese restaurants at Eden Center and wanted to find something new. After searching for the best pho spots in DC, we came across PhoXotic—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The restaurant is small, with about 10 bar seats, but it's well worth the wait. The broth was clear, rich, and packed with bold flavor. The service was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful, making the experience even better. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in DC!

Halal flavorful delicious pho. Loved it. I wish they served peanut butter dip with summer rolls. Would not recommend to a group of people. They only have 10 bar seats and the wait-time can be 60 minutes.

Stopped in randomly with my husband and were pleasantly surprised. The hospitality was 5/5 from the moment we walked in. Everyone was personable, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The pho was outstanding, with some of the freshest ingredients I’ve had in the DMV so far. The saté broth was rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The traditional pho broth was equally impressive, well-balanced, and full of depth. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making for a great overall dining experience. They’ve only been open for about a year, but they’re already serving some of the best pho I’ve had in the area. This is hands down our favorite pho spot right now, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and great service.

Tried the pho with bone marrow, beef tartar, and salt coffee. The pho broth was a little too sweet, but the bone marrow was fantastic. I would get 1 topping - tendon and bone marrow as the bowl. Brisket and was tough and rare steak was fully cooked by the time it arrived in front of me. The tartar was superb. Recommend. Overall a good meal but sweetness of the broth holds it back.

The pho was rich, flavorful, and super satisfying. What impressed me most was their torched bone marrow, perfectly crisp on the outside while staying soft and buttery inside. It’s also a huge plus that everything is halal. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it.
