A listening bar that takes food just as seriously

The records play all night at a volume set for talking, not performing, and that's the whole point of Bar Sala. It's the rare listening bar in Abbotsford where the food isn't an afterthought to the vinyl.

Grab a stool if you're passing through, but book ahead if you want a table. It's a short walk from Victoria Park station.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Dropped in for steak night (I live locally) and had a great time. I can see myself popping by frequently...Bar Sala may be my mid week antidote.

Visited last night to see what had changed since Molli became Bar Sala. For me, the name has changed, but the overall experience feels much the same. I’ll start with the positives. The atmosphere and ambience were lovely—if anything, they felt even better than before. The space has a great vibe and is definitely the venue’s strongest point. Unfortunately, the food was the letdown for me. That was my impression before the rebrand, and sadly it hasn’t improved. In fact, I found the menu even less exciting this time around. The menu is smaller now, which I don’t mind, but the dishes we tried just didn’t quite deliver. Even the steak didn’t feel like premium quality and was noticeably chewy. Looking back at everything we ordered, the only dish I’d happily order again was the burrata though even the bread we ordered with was so salty. Would I come back? Probably, but I’m not in any rush. I live next door, so it’s a convenient local spot, and I always like to give local businesses another chance. I do hope the food evolves to match the quality of the venue itself. PS: between Friday and Sunday I called the venue to book then adjust the booking like 10 times, the phone wasn’t answered even once!

Wow, what a hidden gem. Bar Sala is a vibe, no other way to explain it. Food was exceptional, the ambiance was perfect and the vinyl topped it all off. Came in for the BYO night and stayed all night long.
