Actual specialty coffee inside a train station
Specialty coffee in a train station is a low bar almost nobody clears. This one does, right inside Southern Cross Station, and Broadsheet named it one of Melbourne's best new coffee shops this year.
The name is longer than the queue, most of the time. Catch it before a regional train instead of during peak, when the concourse line gets long.

Came all the way from Gippsland and had to stop here after seeing they had a perfect 5.0 rating on Google Maps. I was like, how is that even possible for a busy coffee shop in the middle of the busy City. Then I tried it myself… and now I get it. Absolute legends. Great coffee, even better customer service. Definitely coming back more often and hopefully learning a thing or two from their customer service too.

What a lovely concept coffee store. Orange camp chairs for seats and crates that can be table or seat on the footpath (like in Vietnam). Tucked away in a small corner on the ground floor of the southern cross precinct shops is a little coffee store where if you want a small shot of coffee you don't have to pay stratospheric prices and you can leave with a smile of one who has found a bargain and is about to savour its delicious aroma while seated in one of the camp chairs. I had the matcha latte and it was full bodied and very satisfying.

So welcoming, one of THE BEST coffees I’ve ever had in Melbourne, Teng is great and very trustworthy with putting the lids on and brings a lovely energy but his staff make the coffee in the cup a gift from the caffeine gods! Only 1 size for iced or hot keeps it really efficient and lessens cognitive load, plenty of seats (even when raining there were dry spots to sit/stand). When we were there a customer said she’d had the best matcha in Japan but this one was better again. Well done. Will come again this trip and each time straight off the sky bus!

First place I’ve seen in a while with full 5-star reviews and definitely 100% deserving of it. Decent matcha for half the price of other cafes, perfect for when you need to settle a quick craving. It’s smooth and thick enough, and not too sweet with just a touch of bitterness. I got a dirty matcha, and the coffee melded well with the matcha itself. Not as good as the artisanal places, but certainly a major bang for your buck at $4-5. Service was speedy and the owner is a lovely personality, just like all the other reviews have mentioned. If the drinks and the prices don’t win you over, the lively and warm atmosphere sure will. Highly recommended.

I’ve been to Bobby Stop Stealing Our Camping Chairs a few times now, and every single visit I ended up ordering the matcha. One unfortunate thing is that their matcha only comes with full cream milk, so I couldn’t order it with oat milk. The matcha itself is decent, definitely not premium quality matcha, but still smooth enough to drink with a pleasant flavour. The café is small and cozy, conveniently located right near Southern Cross Station. There are a few hiking chairs outside, although most customers seem to grab takeaway rather than dine in. Every time I visit, I notice a lot of office workers stopping by. With the current economy, Bobby Stop Stealing Our Camping Chairs honestly feels like the perfect option for people who want their morning caffeine fix while still saving money for lunch. I still genuinely don’t understand how the café manages to justify prices like $3 for a latte and $4 for a matcha. It almost feels unreal in Melbourne these days. Another big plus is the staff. There are usually two workers, one taking orders and one making coffee, and both of them are always incredibly warm and friendly. Every time I come in, they ask how my day is going and make me feel genuinely welcomed. That kind of hospitality is probably one of the reasons people keep coming back.
