The coffee spot on Clock Tower Square

Tower Cafe sits right on Clock Tower Square, the most-photographed corner of central Thimphu. It's the default answer locals and passing tour groups give when someone asks where to get coffee downtown.

In mid-2026 it opened a second location inside the Shop Number 7 building, without closing the original. Most Thimphu cafes relocate. This one just added a second address.

I remember visiting the cafe when Sonam ( I think the owner ) was planning an India trip ( Kolkata ) back in 2020. Kindest of souls, he was happy to help me figure stuff out and he offered his new recipes and biscuits and just created such a wonderful set of experiences in Bhutan. Thanks for that

Stopped by tower cafe near Clock Tower Square for a refreshing sparkling sprite, a rich chocolate frappe, and a generous three-scoop ice cream sundae. The drinks were refreshing, desserts were generously portioned, and it’s a nice place to take a break while exploring the market.”

Cafe with variety of coffee, other drinks and food. Watermelon mojito, coffee and toast were very tasty.

Decent cafe for even quick bite or a meal. It was open late as other cafes starting closing so we headed for getting something quickly.
