The chef behind the menu cut his teeth in Michelin Guide kitchens, and ROOTS shows it: modern European plates with Balkan accents, short and seasonal, nothing padding the list. The room backs that discipline with natural materials and earth tones that pull the forest into a spot near Macedonia Square.

Author cocktails and a tight wine list keep it bistro, not fine dining. Evenings only, five to eleven.

A little gem in the center of Sofia! We ordered the beef tartare, Greek salad, Shepherd’s pie with chicken and lobster pie. All were very tasty and well sized, but the pies were truly the highlights! Both the filling and the dough were great, very tasty and well textured. We highly recommend Roots if you want to enjoy tasty dishes and a relaxing atmosphere.

We tried a few different dishes. Croquetas (pictured) were on point, tartare was great, pasta and meatballs was a huge portion, with great flavours. Stuffed chicken tender and flavourful. House wine was good, but would be great with a wider selection of wines available by the glass. Overall great experience for us.

Beautifully designed space, attentive service, and most importantly very delicious food. Especially loved the chicken croquettes, beef tartar, and apple pie. And the bread was so good that I wish I had room to order pizza. I bet its really good fired up in the proper pizza oven.

We had a nice experience at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed, not only us, but our dog as well, which made a great first impression. The restaurant is beautifully designed, with a stylish and tasteful interior, located right in the city center. Although we had to wait a little for the food and the menu selection wasn’t very extensive, it was absolutely worth it. Every dish we ordered was delicious. The staff remained attentive and kind throughout our visit, making us feel comfortable the entire time. Overall, we were completely satisfied and would definitely recommend this place to others.

Everything was very delicious. The menu is well thought out, with dishes that are a bit different from what you usually find in most restaurants. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was excellent. The staff were friendly, positive, and very polite. We would definitely visit the restaurant again. Thank you!
