A charcoal grill izakaya in the middle of Central's finance towers
The grill sits dead center in the room, not tucked in back, and that's the point. Kaen means flame in Japanese, and skewers come off charcoal while you watch, backed by a sake list longer than most Hong Kong izakayas bother stocking.
Two Exchange Square puts it right in the heart of Central's financial district, so expect a banking-and-legal crowd after work, the same clientele izakayas have served near Tokyo's office towers for decades. It's part of a cluster of Japanese restaurants that's made Central one of the densest spots for Japanese food outside Tokyo.

Went for lunch and it was such a good deal! Ordered the shabu shabu and it was perfect for the colder weather. My favorite was the tempura soba, didnāt take a photo of it but the soba slaps! Had to ask the staff about the soba and found out it was actually fresh soba unlike the typical dry packs that needs to be reconstituted.
