A basement osteria with daily fresh pasta on Gough Street

Skip the ground floor and head down the stairs. DIECI runs a shorter, ingredient-driven menu instead of the full trattoria playbook, with pasta made fresh every day and a wine list built around smaller Italian producers.

Basement rent on Gough Street runs cheaper than street level, and DIECI's prices reflect that even though the cooking doesn't cut corners. It landed just as the block got crowded, with Butter Babe, OOOO Waffle and Kuke Shokudo all opening within a few months of each other nearby.

Went here for the third time and the quality is always consistent! đŸ«¶ Great service, great food quality, everything is always fresh. With the price that they offer, it's so worth it. Even from the quality of bread they're using (sourced from local neighbour bakery + with Tuscan pork lard butter), you can tell they poured their passion into it. The salad have generous amount of lobster (usually for salad, the amount of veggie is more but this is the other way around!), the Pasta Mista is my go-to, and you can also try out their new menu like the Porcini Mushroom Risotto. And the peach in the dessert is so sweet that we were pleasantly surprised by it -- so good! A tip: you have to book in a few weeks in advance as it's quite hard to get a table!

My pasta-loving soul was in heaven. 🍝 We had the Pasta Mista, inspired by a heartfelt tradition of Italian Sunday family gatherings, tossed in a vibrant local prawn and sweet Italian DaNerino tomatoes. Then came the perfectly chewy handmade Tagliolini with sweet local clams and rich Sardinian bottarga completely won me over! Don’t miss their Pollo alla Leccarda either—juicy local Three Yellow chicken leg with a rich, velvety chicken liver and anchovy sauce. Simple, seasonal, and so comforting. 10/10 recommend!

Dieci is easily one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve tried in Hong Kong. We were lucky enough to secure a booking because the restaurant was extremely busy, and it’s easy to understand why once you experience the food and atmosphere. The place has an energetic and authentic vibe that feels both lively and intimate at the same time. What really stood out was how hands-on the owners were. You can genuinely feel their passion and attention to detail throughout the dining experience, from the service to the quality of the dishes being served. It gives the restaurant a very personal and welcoming touch despite how packed it gets. The pasta was absolutely incredible — honestly some of the best pasta I’ve ever had. Perfect texture, rich flavors, and clearly made with great care and quality ingredients. Every bite felt balanced and satisfying. Overall, Dieci fully lived up to the hype and is definitely a restaurant I would return to whenever in Hong Kong.

Had an amazing birthday dinner at Dieci. A huge thank you to Hanna and Chef Paolo for being such warm hosts. The menu is in a league of its own—totally different from the typical Italian cuisine you find in Hong Kong. As huge beef tartare lovers, the version here was easily our favorite; we’ve never encountered that specific texture and perfectly balanced, "not over-seasoned" flavor anywhere else. The house-made potato chips served with it provided the perfect crunch. Every dish, from the sourdough with EVOO and lard to the appetizers and pasta mista, felt like very homey dishes with a refined touch. We also loved the cutlery setting; it is not only beautiful and aesthetic but also very practical to use. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and elevated dining experience!

Second time dining at this place and we loved everything about it. Service was fabulous. My friend was a vegetarian and the chef made sure he catered to her requests and the meal was excellent. The duck ragu and the prawn pasta Mista was delicious! We also loved the olive oil served with the bread. Would definitely come back.
