Wagyu graded like sushi, grilled right in front of you

The chef works the grill inches from your seat, talking through each cut of wagyu the way an omakase counter talks about fish. Seats are limited on purpose, closer to a Japanese kappo steakhouse than a standard yakiniku joint.

Central has picked up plenty of wagyu specialists in the last year, and Tanaka sits on Wellington Street a few doors from Kinmokusei and Happy Samurai. What sets it apart is watching the chef work instead of plates arriving from a kitchen you never see.
