Tokyo's wagyu grill lands in Hong Kong with a French twist

Wagyu gets seared tableside here, then finished with reductions built like a French sauce station rather than the usual soy and mirin glaze. It's the first Hong Kong outpost of a Tokyo format, and the pairing of teppan technique with classical French sauce work is the whole draw.

The fourth-floor spot sits in Lee Garden One, right in the mix with Tiffany Blue Box Café as the complex chases the kind of cross-cultural fine dining that competes with the Landmark and Pacific Place for big spenders.

Tucked away in a sleek, sophisticated space, GYU+ Bar by Miyoshi delivers a beautifully curated Japanese-inspired beef experience that hits every mark — from the plating to the service to the ambience. This is the kind of place where you can close a deal over lunch without ever raising your voice 🤝. ## The Dishes — Modern, Elegant, Precise 🎨 Beef Tartare with Cured Yolk & Crispy Potato Nest 🥚 An absolute showstopper of a starter. Hand-chopped premium beef tartare, seasoned just right — clean, savoury, with a subtle umami depth — crowned with a glossy cured egg yolk that sat perfectly like a jewel in a golden nest of ultra-crispy shoestring potatoes 🪺. Break the yolk, mix it all together, and every bite is a symphony of textures: silky, crunchy, tender, rich. Beautifully plated on a speckled ceramic dish that felt like edible art 🎨. Beef & Mushroom Crêpe Roll 🌯 A creative, refined bite — thin, crispy crêpe wrapped around a creamy filling (looked like mushroom and beef in a delicate béchamel-style sauce), topped generously with finely chopped chives, crispy shallots, and a delicate sorrel leaf for that pop of colour. The contrast between the shatter-crisp exterior and the creamy, savoury interior was pure comfort dressed up in fine-dining clothes 👔. Small but memorable. Seared Wagyu with Sautéed Spinach & Mashed Potato 🥩 The main event — thick slices of beautifully seared beef, edge-charred and rosy-pink in the middle, resting on a bed of glossy wilted spinach and bathed in a rich, glossy jus dotted with cracked pepper. The doneness was executed with real precision — juicy, tender, and full of that clean beef flavour that only quality cuts deliver. The side of silky, buttery mashed potato 🥔 was the perfect creamy companion — smooth as velvet and rich enough to hold its own next to the beef. ## Atmosphere & Service — Built for Business 💼 - ❄️ Air-conditioning on point — cool, crisp, and comfortable, which frankly matters a lot in this climate - 🪑 Environment — refined, modern, and quiet enough for real conversation; ideal for business lunches or a special catch-up - 👨‍🍳 Knowledgeable staff — the team clearly knows their beef, walking through cuts, cooking styles, and pairings with genuine passion - 😊 Friendly & welcoming — professional without being stiff, warm without being overbearing — that sweet spot great restaurants find ## The Verdict 🌟 - ✅ Elegant plating that photographs beautifully 📸 - ✅ Precision cooking — every dish executed with care - ✅ Ideal for business lunches, date nights, or a solo treat at the bar - ✅ Staff who actually enhance the meal with their knowledge - ✅ Cool, comfortable, calm — a real oasis of a dining room A polished, grown-up beef experience that punches well above its weight. Highly recommended if you want to impress a client or just treat yourself right 🥂.

We had a lovely Sunday brunch at GYU+ Bar in Causeway Bay. The space is surprisingly spacious and comfortable, making it a great spot for a relaxed catch-up with friends. The staff were very attentive to detail, which really elevated the overall experience and made us feel well taken care of. The food was enjoyable and well-prepared, though the drinks were a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the experience. It would be great to see a more creative and refined cocktail selection to match the quality of the food and service. Overall, it is a nice place for a laid-back brunch and especially perfect for a girls’ chat.
