Daichi no Udon

Hand-pulled udon in a Tai Kok Tsui mall
Watch the noodles happen before you eat them. Daichi no Udon makes Sanuki-style thick-cut udon by hand, and the open kitchen faces the dining room so you can see the dough kneaded and cut from most tables.
Olympian City has been one of West Kowloon's bigger malls since the early 2000s, sitting above MTR Olympic station. Its food court leans heavily chain, so a spot doing everything from scratch stands out.

Trying the burdock tempura here was a nice change, and it was served in a really appealing way. The udon had a pleasant texture, though I found the cold version a bit better for me. The tempura was decent, but I expected a little more crunch. Portions felt generous for the price, and having English menus available made ordering easier at Daichi no udon.

Really lovely udon. I love chewy udon and this one is chewy but still soft! Really really like it. Especially cold with dipping sauce. So refreshing int. Curry udon nice and flavorful but I like the chew of cold udon more. Burdock tempura is really nice and addictive with the tartare sauce. Likewise, the various tempura so crunchy and fried. Nice batter and I like the salt served alongside

Daichi no Udon, hailing from Fukuoka Japan, specializes in udon crafted through 20 hours of double fermentation, resulting in semi-transparent, glossy noodles that are soft yet chewy. The menu features a delightful selection of udon dishes, all made fresh to order ensuring that unique chewy texture in every bowl✨🍜 Don't miss the Hong Kong-exclusive Mentaiko Butter Udon, which combines the rich flavors of mentaiko and butter, creating a smooth and savory delight!🤤 The Hot Udon with Beef and Burdock Tempura is another star dish, featuring crispy burdock tempura paired with tender beef, all in a soothing dashi soup. For something refreshing, try the Chilled Udon with Tempura for extra chewy udon noodles!
