Hokkaido-style miso ramen on Wellington Street

Skip the tonkotsu queue next door. Happy Samurai does a Hokkaido-style miso broth, thicker and sweeter than the shoyu and tonkotsu bowls that dominate Hong Kong's ramen scene, and it says upfront that the noodles are imported, not house-made.

Wellington Street used to be steakhouse and izakaya territory before this place showed up. Now there's a lunch queue most weekdays, in a room too small to seat it comfortably.

It's a small ramen joint run by the owner. The ramen is bang on. They serve vegetarian and non vegetarian ramen both. The veg ramen had some exotic veggies. The broth was simply delicious. We ordered both miso and tantan both were delicious authentic tasting. The owner is polite and kind.

Every ingredient is so fresh and perfect!! They cook veggies separately, maybe that’s why. Even the leeks are soooo fresh! We loved this place.

Hidden Spot in Central with Passionate Owners! Found this super "hidden gem" tucked away in Central. It’s a tiny, cozy space that feels very authentic, and the owners are clearly very passionate about what they do. Highlights: • Fried Chicken (Karaage): This was the star of the night. It was incredibly impressive - so tender on the inside but perfectly crispy on the outside. • The Vibe: Really special, intimate atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve left the city. Note on Flavors: We tried the ramen and curry rice. While they are packed with flavor (very "heavy taste"), both my friend and I found them a bit too salty for our liking. Great if you love intense, punchy flavors, but maybe a bit much if you prefer something lighter. Overall a cool experience for the vibe and the chicken! 🍗

If you’re looking for good vibes, cold beers, and a surprisingly incredible ramen, this is your spot. I’ll be honest, I didn’t come in with high expectations for the food, but the ramen completely won me over. The pork in particular was a standout: tender, flavourful, and the kind of thing you keep thinking about after you leave. But great food alone isn’t what makes a place worth returning to, and this place gets that. The atmosphere is genuinely welcoming, the kind where you settle in and don’t really want to leave. It strikes a rare balance of being a solid drinks and vibes destination while also being somewhere that actually takes the food seriously. Whether you’re popping in for a beer or staying for a full meal, you won’t leave disappointed. Highly recommend! 🍺🍜

Saw the high ratings and decided to check out this little hole-in-the-wall spot. The entrance is tucked away on Pottinger Street, and while the seating is limited and not exactly comfy, the family-run vibe more than makes up for it. The chef, a Brit, runs the kitchen with his son, while his niece handles the service. For a moment, I felt like I was in Hawaii, but the accents had me thinking I’d landed in London instead! What truly sets this place apart is the ramen—no flashy gimmicks, just classic, well-executed bowls. The tantan was savory with a rich broth and plenty of pork. Both the shio and shoyu were solid choices, though the marinated egg leaned a bit too heavy on the alcohol. Even the gyoza impressed, with a dipping sauce that hit all the right notes. Service was warm and welcoming, as you’d expect from a family-run spot, but be prepared for things to move at a slower pace, even during lunch. All in all, a charming little gem worth a visit for some honest, no-frills ramens.
