Gimbap is the entire menu at Dotom, seaweed-wrapped rice rolls sliced thick and eaten fast. Skip the classic vegetable-and-egg version and try the char siu filling, a local twist on a Korean convenience-store staple.

Everything costs little by Wellington Street standards. That makes Dotom the budget option on a block dominated by Haeundae Galbi and Happy Samurai, both pricier and both booked out ahead.

There's a sitting area upstairs, the environment is clean and decent. They have one complementary plastic packaged water if you dine in there, but if you want extra water you have to pay 5hkd for each cup of water. So I would recommend customers to bring your own water or buy bottled drinks before dining inside. The food is quite tasty, and the portion is generous. Would be better if they can state whether the food is spicy or not in the menu, and provide the option to remove spice. I ordered a beef one and I didn't know there is chili wrapped inside.

Simply delicious. Dotom was recommended to me by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. To my surprise, they have quaint upstairs seating for dining in. Ordering is easy with a QR code. I rarely eat Korean food but love gimbaps - of which everything on the menu is, in addition to sides. These were huge. I couldn’t finish them - and I eat a lot. They’re very substantial, healthy and filling! They’re sauce comes in a cute little squeezy container which makes it incredibly easy to apply onto the rolls for finishing later (and I presume for takeaway orders). Hands down to the lovely, helpful staff as well. They were knowledgable and friendly. Repeat visit? Most definitely 🌟
