RESTAU74 opened on Frederiksgade in spring 2025, built around classical French country technique instead of the tasting menus other new openings in Aarhus favor. The menu runs on seasonal, local produce, and the zero-waste approach shows up in daily service rather than as an occasional theme night.

The address sits a short walk from the cathedral and the main pedestrian street, which makes it as much a lunch stop for office workers as a dinner spot, and the menu looks built for both from day one.

There is, fortunately for my wife and I, no queue out onto the street - but there should be. We took their share tasting menu, and it started well: Herb spiced almonds, whipped, browned butter and lovely bread. Lovely olives. Then white fish with foamy delights, beets perfectly cooked and flavoured. Acidity, sweetness, salt, unami and also consistency they have it under control here too. It continued with pork chop with green asparagus, and a lovely little tarte flambe. Well.. why are you sitting there reading... Come and eat... 14 points on the open buns-in-curry-sausage scale... And the staff are really nice too.... 😍

I had a wonderful dinner there. The food was absolutely amazing! Highly recommended. I chose today's menu (snacks, bread, 4 courses and 1 dessert). There was a lot of food. I was quite full after the second course. I don't understand why some people say the portions are small. I will definitely recommend Restau74 to my friends

Amazing experience! Totally recommend! The food was very tasty ( I had veal tartare and the best olives ever!) service was very kind and knowledgeable and the location was great too!
