Long-fermented sourdough and a zero-waste pastry case
Kani Bakery opened on 10 January 2026 on Vesterbrogade in Frederiksberg, built around long-fermented sourdough and seasonal pastries with an explicit zero-waste approach, day-old bread worked back into new recipes rather than binned.
Specialty coffee sits alongside the bread program, positioning Kani as a full morning stop rather than a bakery that happens to sell coffee on the side.

I had a seasonal iced cardamom latte which was very tasty and not too sweet. There was a queue but I didn't have to wait very long. I had a chocolate swirl which also wasn't too sweet. The cafe has the bakery in the back and the aesthetic is stunning. It was full so I had takeaway.

This breakfast has honestly ruined every other breakfast in Copenhagen for me. I suspect it’s actually difficult to find bad baked goods in Copenhagen. At the same time, there are so many bakeries and cafés that it’s easy to lose track of them all. And whenever you hear about yet another new place, it’s hard to get genuinely excited. That’s why I’m so glad I found Kani. I truly think it’s an outstanding bakery and well worth making a small detour for. I had the Seasonal Breakfast, and while excellent bread and pastries are almost a given in Copenhagen, this place goes the extra mile. The strawberry jam is infused with elderflower, and the butter has a subtle hint of basil. They’re tiny details, but they make the whole experience feel special. The pastries are excellent as well, and the staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and patient. I’d definitely recommend this place—or maybe I wouldn’t. I always find it a little sad when places become so overhyped that they end up being victims of their own success. Right now, Kani still feels like a neighborhood bakery where lots of locals stop by to pick up their bread rather than a tourist hotspot, and I really hope it stays that way.

It’s a lovely bakery with delicious baked goods. Strawberry pistachio elderflower pastry was very good. However I was disappointed at double baked chocolate croissant as there was no chocolate at all. Cappuccino and summer Kani special was tasty. There are two tables to sit inside and a few outside, but it’s quite popular so hard to find seating on Sunday

This was without a doubt the best BMO & breakfast we had in CPH!!! we even got an extra pastry to go (pain suisse) and it was out of this world. Exceptional viennoiserie

We’ve tried a lot of cafés around Copenhagen, and this one was a pleasant surprise. The pastries felt different from the traditional ones, with unique flavors that really stood out. Definitely worth a visit. We’ll be coming back to try more!
