Vinyl-only listening bar by night, coffee by day

The sound system is why you come to GOZO, not the drinks list, which stays simple on purpose. This is a 100%-vinyl listening bar on Erkel utca in Ferencváros, with DJ sets and the occasional live jazz set once evening hits.

Earlier in the day it runs as a regular coffee bar. It's part of the listening-bar wave that's popped up across Europe this year, opening at 4pm on weekdays and later on weekends.

What an incredible place! the sound system is genuinely impressive, you can tell serious thought went into it. The ambiance hits exactly the right note: cozy, cool, and effortlessly welcoming. Staff was genuinely warm, which made the whole vibe even better. Easily my new favourite spot in Budapest. Can't wait to go back.

I am a bit obsessed with listening bars so this was definitely on my hit list. It was about a 15 minute walk from our hotel but it was worth it.. We went on a quiet Monday afternoon however, the staff were attentive and the owner even offered us the opportunity to choose some music. I declined as I was enjoying his ambient selection so much. First and foremost, the sound system is lovely. It is also has been treated with decent acoustic padding. The drinks were spot on and very reasonable. We were only in the upstairs space but there is a downstairs which I got a tour of, it has a DJ booth and plenty of comfy seating. I shall be back to Budapest in the future and most certainly this bar, it is a gem.
