A rooftop bar level with the dome of St Stephen's Basilica
High Note sits on the roof of the Aria Hotel on Hercegprímás utca, close enough to St Stephen's Basilica that the dome fills most of the view. It is the rooftop bar in Budapest that people mean when they say rooftop bar.
The cocktail list is long and priced accordingly, and the terrace is heated and partly covered so it runs outside summer. Reservations are effectively required at sunset.
Good to know
- Reserve for sunset. Walk-in space on the terrace is rare in the evening.

This place was highly recommended to us by our Belgian friends, and it exceeded all of our expectations. The food and cocktails were outstanding, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to the lovely Domi, who greeted us warmly every time and made us feel truly at home. We would highly recommend this place to everyone and can't wait to come back!

Sebastian was awesome! The service is genuinely 10/10 and the cocktails are soo good i would highly recommend trying a cocktail with horseradish in it as the flavour is so unique and nice! Honestly my favourite rooftop bar.

The view is gorgeous and the people were super pleasant and professional. The standard for a “gorgeous, but pricey” bar. I did not really have high expectations for cocktails, as it is a “SkyBar”, however… yeah, it was fantastic. Absolutely amazing. I need to come back and try the rest honestly, they are leaving me no choice.

This was our second visit here — the first time was in October 2022, and the second in May 2026. Both visits were absolutely wonderful. The main courses and desserts were delicious, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable considering the quality of the food, the beautiful view, the atmosphere, and the level of service. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful throughout the evening. We arrived close to opening time (4:00 PM), so it wasn't crowded yet, which gave us a chance to enjoy the place and take some photos. Still one of my favorite places, and a spot I'll gladly return to again and again. <3

We found this spot through Google Maps and selected the High Note SkyBar. While we were excited, we were initially a bit disappointed once we sat down with our drinks and looked at the menu. However, we decided to speak with the staff, and that changed everything. The team was incredibly accommodating and proposed moving us downstairs to the Library—and we ended up enjoying ourselves to the max! • Service: Very kind, helpful, and truly driven to satisfy the guest. The transition they handled from the rooftop to the ground floor was seamless. • Food: The quality was awesome. The portions were quite small, but the flavors were excellent. • Atmosphere: We enjoyed the ground-floor Library a lot. It featured gentle music and provided the perfect setting for good conversation. If the rooftop isn't exactly what you're looking for, definitely ask about the Library. The staff will take great care of you!
