A small Hungarian wine bar with a rotating by-the-glass list

Kadarka is a narrow bar on Király utca that pours Hungarian wine by the glass and changes the list constantly. It is named after the old Hungarian red grape that most producers abandoned and a handful are now bringing back.

The format is deliberately unfussy: no tasting menus, no ceremony, a board of what is open. A second Kadarka opened on Dohány utca in spring 2018.

We visited a few days ago and we had an amazing experience. We said we wanted to try some classic wines from the area and we were presented to 10 different amazing wines both white, red and sweet. The place is run by sommeliers and they also serve great food. Definitely a must visit for any wine enthusiast.

Very nice and knowledgeable staff. Prices are quite reasonable. Wine selection is huge.

It was a lovely experience 😍 I know where to visit first in Budapest if I ever come back again. The waiter was really kind and sincere, he was really helpful. Atmosphere is gorgeous, definitely ask for their recommended wines. Payment was also a fair price. Loveddd this place.

Anytime I've been here I always had a wonderful experience, and I come here regularly. The servers are fantastic, always happy to provide suggestions and even let you try different wines. The food is delicious and there is a large variety of wines. Love this place!

Amazing wine bar. The staff are very knowledgeable. They even remembered what we had the night before. A very large selection of wine by the glass and they have no issue with opening a bottle just for one glass. Highly recommended.
