Magenta walls, serious cocktails, and Palermo's ancient guardian watching over dinner

Convivio opened on Via La Farina in June 2025, about a year and a half after founders Francesco Brucoli and Alberto Solina started building the idea. Solina spent six years running a specialty coffee café in London before this, and that background shows up in how seriously the bar treats its drinks list.

The room runs on magenta and petrol blue, with artwork built around the Genius of Palermo, the city's old civic emblem, showing up again and again. Kitchen and bar get equal billing here: this is a place for a full dinner and a proper cocktail, not a quick stop before moving on.

We visited Convivio – Restaurant & Cocktail Bar on New Year’s Eve, which is of course a very special evening. For that reason, our experience may not fully reflect the restaurant’s usual quality or the kitchen’s true potential, as all guests were being served at the same time. Overall, there were some inconsistencies in the execution. In several dishes, the cooking points were not perfectly met. The fish, for example, was very flavorful but slightly overcooked and therefore a bit dry, with too little sauce to compensate. For my personal taste, the portion sizes were also quite large. I simply couldn’t finish everything – the risotto alone felt more like a main course in terms of quantity. That said, the atmosphere in the restaurant was excellent, especially for New Year’s Eve. A lot of effort clearly went into creating a festive and enjoyable evening. The service was outstanding: attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the night. In the end, the evening was nice overall, but the food did not fully convince me 100%.

Excellent restaurant! The Sea Bass is delicious and the pasta is perfect. The Lemon white chocolate dessert was phenomenal. We have fallen in love with Palermo and love this restaurant!
