Boram Um's Osaka espresso bar, the only one in the city on the world's top 100 list

Boram Um won the World Barista Championship in 2023, then opened Ult in Kyomachibori on 27 January 2025 with Marcia Yoko, the Brazilian coach who got him there. The coffee is competition grade: micro-lots from Um's family farm in Brazil alongside blends built for espresso.

In March 2026 Ult was the only Osaka shop named to the World's 100 Best Coffee Shops list. The espresso blend costs ¥600, the room is white and nearly bare, and Higobashi station is about 400 metres away.

Definitely a must for coffee lovers if you're in Osaka. Extremely nice atmosphere. Very friendly and well experienced barista. Ask them what kind of taste notes you're interested in and they will recommend you one. Highly recommends!

Had an amazing coffee here ! Champion Blend (Panama Gesha x Brazil Yellow Borboun) was amazing. Really worth it ! Service was amazing, Kiri and the other team were so friendly and brewed perfectly !

This is a very nice coffee shop of the third wave movement 🌊. In our humble opinion, 2023 world barista champion blend was NOT worth the price (or the prize).

ordered flat white with the ult house blend here, and its has unique taste. for me like more nutty, chocolate and sweet in the end. also when i sipped it taste smooth. maybe when i comeback i will try another beans. all and all it was great to get fast to go coffee here.
