White-on-wood minimalism on Hongkayom, off the riverside tourist run

Rose Cafe's interior leans white-on-wood, closer to a design cafe you'd find in Vientiane than a typical Pakse coffee stop. The Hongkayom address keeps it off the riverside cluster where most visitors end up. The bakery case and drinks menu stay simple, letting the room do the talking.

Despite the bar in the name, it only opens for coffee and cake, closed Sundays. Locals treat it as the quieter alternative to the busier cafes by the water.

Good to know

  • Open 9am to 6pm, closed Sundays.
  • Set away from the main tourist cluster near the river, quieter as a result.

Great coffee lychee espresso recommended to get. And out of all the places it has the best selection of Belgium beers for a coffee spot.

This is a great place. Tucked away from the road, and with a nice open space for sitting outside, as well as a nice indoor space with Aircon. The service was great and I highly recommend the butterfly soda.

I had two cookies which were awesome in consistency and taste!! 👌🏼 Also had the strawberry yogurt drink. Was also really good. Only the straw was too thin at first to drink it. Later the ice melted and it was easier. But no big deal for me. Everyone who loves beer is at the right place. Never saw so much choice in Laos!
