The Boxed Café
★ 4.3 · 4 reviews Blantyre Opened June 2026
Three tables, eighteen seats, coffee done small and clean
The Boxed Café keeps it deliberately narrow. Coffee. Simple food. A small, clean room instead of a sprawling menu. Eighteen seats across three tables, inside the old Metro supermarket building downtown.
It opened in June 2026 with a soft launch, then a multi-day grand-opening programme. Blantyre's café scene runs mostly on bakeries and hotel lounges. This format had been missing.

Ordered the Loaded Wrap(4.5/5), The boxed supreme burger(3.5/5), their beef patty was abit salty, I would suggest they make their own patty. The Oreo Milkshake (5/5), and currant Fusion (4/5). Overall great place to be.

I love how the place has a large parking space and is easily accessible, right on the main road, I had their burgers which I liked, and they came with a salad portion, I also had a milkshake which was lactose free which I appreciated, i also had a T-bone steak which came with chips, my friend and I were not impressed with the portion sizes, Atleast the steak tasted nice.

Convenient spot to stop whilst in CBD and want to have a quick bite and drink...Had the white chocolate and it was good. They also gave me solo fries despite not being on the menu and I appreciated that a lot! Also food and drinks come in take away boxes I guess in line with the brand. Super cute packaging and hope it's sustainable. The owner did make me laugh by asking me not to tip! Told him I will write about that 😜 I always tip for good sit down service and good service was had! Accept the tip and grow your business boss! Could have been 5 stars but the seating area was a bit tight. Perhaps smaller tables to accommodate smaller groups...just a thought.

Great place overall. The samosa was a little disappointing, it lacked salt and tasted like it had been sitting for a while. But the main meal? Absolutely incredible. Every bite was packed with flavor and it was worth every cent. The parking is convenient, and while the seating area is on the smaller side, that’s part of the charm of a café. It creates a cozy atmosphere and even gives you the chance to strike up a conversation, meet new people, and network. A lovely spot with great food, a welcoming vibe, and an experience that easily outweighs the minor shortcomings. I’ll definitely be back.
