Free coffee, pay what you want, across from the Griftpark

There's no price list at Vonk. Coffee is free, and everything else runs on what the owners call invisible prices: you decide what to leave. It sits on the corner of Griftstraat and Blauwkapelseweg, in the room that used to be Lokaal Wittevrouwen.

A non-profit run by people from the Nieuwe Kerk, the whole point is that anyone can sit down regardless of what's in their pocket. Breakfast, lunch and a drink, Wednesday through Sunday, with the Griftpark right across the street.

A fantastic breakfast spot right across from the park! Everything was freshly made with high-quality ingredients and absolutely delicious. Our kids especially loved the indoor toddler play area and the chess set, which kept them entertained while we relaxed. After breakfast, we took a stroll through the park across the street—it was the perfect, relaxing way to start the day. Highly recommend!

Despite the heat, it was very bearable here. We could sit in the shade outside, and inside it was wonderfully cool. Because the doors are open on all sides, you still get the feeling that you are sitting half outside. The food was very tasty and the service was at least as good. It is nice that there is so much choice for vegetarian/vegan diners. The lemonades were delicious; highly recommended in warm weather!

I come here regularly. Cozy atmosphere, prime location right next to Griftpark where you can always park, and fantastic service. There is also a super fun play area for children, which my daughter has now found her way to very well, so that my wife and I can enjoy a glass of bubbly.

What a lovely afternoon we had. For my birthday, I was treated to a cooking workshop with friends and family at neighborhood café Vonk, in the project kitchen across the street. Pauline and her colleagues had prepared everything perfectly and created a wonderful atmosphere. Their enthusiasm and cheerfulness were infectious! We got to work in small groups. I had chosen Spanish and Mediterranean, but you can also choose other cuisines. We cooked and ate wonderfully, and it was a very enjoyable afternoon.
