Dumpling AS

A rotating dumpling menu, xiaolongbao included
Dumpling AS opened on Thorvald Meyers gate in March 2024 with a menu that turns over regularly, running from xiaolongbao soup dumplings to pan-fried shengjian, with both meat and vegan options. Sides like cucumber salad and kimchi round it out.
It is small and casual, on Grünerløkka's main street. The kitchen keeps things focused on the dumpling.

So cozy place, quiet perfect for romantic dates or chill dinner with friends. The staff is super friendly and the food soooo good🥲 not the usual dumplings, so don’t expect classic shrimp and pork dumplings, they just elevated the experience to another level💃

Definitely the best dumplings I have ever tried! The restaurant has a variety of dumplings and some side dishes. We tried three different dumplings and really enjoyed the soup dumplings, but the mushrooms dumplings were our favorite. The waiter explained every dish we ordered in detail, which really elevated the experience. The restaurant only has indoor seating and has a nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend going, but to be able to get a table I would recommend booking in advance.

I did enjoy most and the service was good. Maybe they could be a bit more attentive, but once at the table they were pleasant and we had a good experience. The xiao long bao (soup dumplings didn’t quite measure up to my expectations. The løyrom felt overpriced for being the most expensive order and only coming in 4 pieces. The dessert also felt overpriced and got mixed reviews around the table. I did really enjoy the steinsopp (mushrooms) and the steamed crab dumplings. The kimchi and cucumber salad as a side was also good. I would come back and try some of the dumplings we didn’t cover on this visit, and I know which I would order again.

I was very happy when I finally found the time to come here! Visited for lunch, which I think was a smart decision. As mentioned by several, you need to buy (and pay for) quite a lot of dumplings to get propper full. Going here for lunch gives you the option of tasting their dumplings, without breaking the bank on a big dinner. The dumplings were all very good. Loved the flavours and the creative combinations. My favourite were the “taskekrabbe” and the mushroom dumplings. Pea dumplings the least interesting ones, but still good. You can skip the orange salad, but definitely go for the smashed cucumbers. Service much better than people write. Either they upped their level, or we came at a very good time. Super friendly staff explaining everything we ate and were very attentive with for example filling up water. All in all great lunch!

Would say the food tasted good overall but was very inconsistent, some the dumpling skins were so dry like they had been waiting around for a long time. Would say the food was fine but would never come again, for me it’s not better than real Dim Sum!
