A no-fuss bar right on Nytorget

På Kornet pulls a mixed local crowd for beer and simple drinks, just off Nytorget. The square outside has turned into one of the livelier corners of central Stavanger.

Inside it's plain and open late. This is a neighbourhood bar you return to, not a cocktail spot you dress up for.

Cool find! Great selection of beers on tap and constantly changing. Staff are super froiendly and very knowledgeable about beer. The tap choices have some thought behind them. Wings were amazing too! I had korean wings in one of the top rated places in Houston but Paa Kornet outclassed them! Always great tunes playing. They had a Lemmy drink (Jack and coke) and a Prince of Darkness stout on tap. All of that in a cool stone basement with several seating areas. One of my fav places in Stavanger for sure!

Cozy. This is a nice bar with great Korean wings. Inside its dark wood and stone interior speaks of times gone by and its outdoor eating area catches the sun often enough. Tables in the sun can be hard to come by in Stavanger so its a bit of a hidden gem off to the side of the main drag but also very central. Worth a visit to be sure. Staff is great ☺️☺️☺️

We came on a Thursday evening ~7pm. A few customers were already enjoying beers. Not too busy. This craft beer joint is located in the basement level. Take the stairs down to their restaurant and beer bar. Order your beer at the counter and settle the payment. Take your beer to your table or sit at the bar. They had many local craft beers on tap. You can ask for recommendations from the bartender. We had a small glass of beer and a bottle of rhubarb Soda (162 NOK plus 10% tips). No serving of beer samplers, I think available on weekends only. A bit disappointed because we were leaving Norway already. Surprised to see tips request on the payment terminal. It is a good place to chill with friends. Music is not loud, good for conversations.

I love På Kornet. They have a limited menu, but the chicken wings are my favorite and the burgers are pretty good also. Great beer selection, even the non-alcoholic selection is good.

The basement bar has a really nice atmosphere with an amazing owner who is friendly. The beer selection is very good and local. Also an excellent selection of mead and beer made in Norway.
