Andean fine dining under a cedar tree at the Monasterio

A cedar tree grows straight through the middle of this colonial courtyard, part of the sixteenth-century seminary that the Belmond Monasterio was built into. Oqre opened here to pull people off the street, not just hotel guests.

The kitchen turns Andean produce into contemporary plates, elegant without losing the ingredients underneath. Lunch costs less than dinner, and the courtyard looks best while there's still daylight coming through the branches.

I had one of the best experiences in the courtyard with their Barista Raul. He has a passions for coffee that I have not seen yet. Extremely knowledgeable and explained everything with details and examples. I learned about the farms that grow the coffee beans and the process to extract every note.

Five stars without hesitation. OQRE, the bar at the Belmond Hotel Monasterio, served the best cocktails we had in all of Cusco. Every drink was expertly crafted, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. What elevated the experience was the service. Raul took care of us from start to finish and was outstanding: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm without ever being intrusive. He made excellent recommendations and clearly knows his craft. The setting matches the quality of a 5-star property: elegant, refined, and the perfect place to unwind after a day in the city. If you’re in Cusco and want a memorable cocktail in a beautiful space, OQRE is the place. Ask for Raul.

We did the “Chef for the Day” experience at Belmond Hotel and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Mario, Suis Enrique, Heiner, and Joe made the entire experience so special. They were incredibly kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to spend the day with. You can tell how passionate they are about Peruvian cuisine and culture — they took the time to explain everything, answer all our questions, and made us feel completely involved from start to finish. The energy, hospitality, and attention to detail were unmatched. We laughed the entire day, learned so much, and ate some of the best food of our trip. What could have just been a cooking class turned into such a memorable experience because of this amazing team. Truly cannot recommend this enough if you’re staying here!

Oqre has been the best experience of any restaurant I have been on my travels. Michael our server was fantastic. He gave us information on the food, and the history of the hotel. He was very polite and great to talk to. Besides this the food was incredible. I highly suggest the Cordero Norteño. The lamb was so tender and delicious and complimented very well with the creamy rice. Lastly we indulged in desserts that were phenomenal. If I get the chance to come back to Peru I will definitely make a stop here again.
