French bistro and crêpes off Sukhumvit 49

Buckwheat galettes by day, bistro plates once the sun goes down. That's the split at this spot tucked off Sukhumvit 49, on a residential soi thick with expat families who fill the tables every weekend.

The walk from Thong Lo BTS is short but scrappy, the last stretch has no real pavement. Book ahead for Sunday lunch.

Had such a wonderful dining experience here today! Everything we ordered was delicious, and the whole meal was honestly perfect from start to finish. My absolute favorite was the French-style pain perdu dessert — it was so soft, rich, and flavorful, and definitely one of the best desserts I’ve had in a while. The combination of textures and flavors was amazing. The savory dishes were also beautifully presented and tasted great. Overall, such a lovely meal and a great experience. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

So beautiful and clean spot with smooth, well-balanced coffee. The food is fantastic—the sourdough Ham Grilled Cheese is absolute perfection, super crispy and delicious! Don't miss this menu item. Highly recommended, 5 stars !

Absolutely loved this place! I was staying at the hotel right next door, and from the moment I discovered this café, I ended up coming back every single morning until I left. ☕️✨ The breakfast menu is incredible—you can literally order anything, and I’m sure you’ll love it. 👌🏻 I tried the Mushroom Omelette and the Boiled Eggs with Avocado .and both were an easy 10/10. 💯 The only suggestion I’d make is adding a selection of fresh juices. A huge thank you to TJ for the outstanding hospitality and professional service. You made every visit even more enjoyable. 🙏🏻👏🏻 Definitely one of the highlights of my trip!

★★★★★ La Galette, Sukhumvit 49/1 — neighbourhood-bistro warmth with destination-dining precision La Galette is what an all-day French bistro should be: welcoming, polished without being formal, and technically precise while retaining bistro generosity. At The Racquet Club, its bright, airy room—marble tables, warm timber, bentwood-style chairs, pendant lights and an inviting pastry counter—suits brunch, business lunch, dinner or a solo treat. The prawn crudo with orange and pistachio was a superb opening. Translucent butterflied prawns came with juicy orange suprêmes in a vivid citrus emulsion, accented by herb oil and toasted pistachios. The prawns had clean marine sweetness and a delicate texture; orange supplied brightness, while pistachios added earthy depth and crunch. The balance of sweet, briny, acidic and nutty flavours was remarkably exact, and the dressing deserved to be collected to the final drop. The French onion soup showed equal command of a classic. Served piping hot in a lion-head tureen, it paired a dark, concentrated broth with patiently caramelised onions. Bread beneath the gratinated cheese had absorbed the soup while retaining substance, and the burnished rim added a delicious roasted note. Rich and comforting, yet never bluntly salty, it was a benchmark bistro rendition. The cold-pressed beetroot juice was thoroughly chilled, naturally earthy-sweet and refreshing rather than cloying—an excellent palate reset between richer courses. The creamy mussels were the centrepiece and reason enough to return. A generous bowl of glossy, plump mussels arrived in a velvety cream-and-white-wine broth with onion, garlic, parsley, lemon and whole dried chilli. The seafood was tender, clean-tasting and free of grit. Saline shellfish liquor, wine and citrus kept the cream lively, while the chilli brought gentle warmth—a subtle Bangkok accent that never obscured the French foundations. The fries were fryer-hot, evenly golden, audibly crisp outside and fluffy within. Excellent alone, they became indispensable when dipped into the mussel broth. Ordering the two together is essential; if the fries disappear first, extra bread is entirely justified. That broth is effectively a second course hidden within the first and should not be left behind. Dessert was exceptional. The French Toast Suzette, or brûléed pain perdu, featured thick brioche with a crackling caramelised exterior and soft, custardy centre. Fresh orange, zest, lightly whipped chantilly, glossy orange caramel and bittersweet candied citrus created a sophisticated balance of sweetness, acidity, fragrance and gentle bitterness. It felt like pain perdu, Crêpes Suzette and crème brûlée meeting on one plate, yet remained coherent rather than excessive. Save room; this dish is non-negotiable. What impressed me most was the meal’s continuity. Citrus repeatedly lifted richer elements, crisp textures balanced tender seafood and custardy brioche, and herbs kept the French classics fresh. The kitchen moves fluently between comforting bistro tradition and lighter contemporary composition without compromising either. Service was attentive and well paced. Portions—especially the mussels and fries—were generous, plating was thoughtful, and the seafood quality was evident. Convenient parking at The Racquet Club is another advantage. For a first visit, order the prawn crudo, French onion soup, creamy mussels with fries, beetroot juice and French Toast Suzette. Come hungry, squeeze the lemon over the mussels, keep the fries close to the sauce, and preserve enough appetite for dessert. Five stars not merely because every dish was delicious, but because the meal felt composed—from the first burst of citrus to the final trace of orange caramel. La Galette combines neighbourhood warmth, serious technique and destination-worthy cooking with remarkable confidence.

we come here very often. The food is French forward and is very very good. I really enjoy the lively daytime atmosphere with the sunlight. but when the light is dimmed in the evening it’s also another vibe. That’s very romantic for a quiet private date. The beef tartare is amazing, The linguine with crab is amazing I always recommend this place to friends and family. this is how the plate look after we finish the meal. The Chef should be really proud 😂✨🙏🏻 The place is also dog friendly so we love to bring our little pups here 🐶
