22 seats, one couple, and Appalachian-Italian cooking
Twenty-two seats and a husband-and-wife team running the whole room. Piccolina packs Neapolitan sandwiches, Appalachian-Italian plates and house-made pastries into a space small enough that dinner feels hosted, not just seated.
It's on Depot Street in the River Arts District, open for lunch Thursday to Saturday and dinner Friday and Saturday. Book the full buyout if you want the place to yourselves.

Decided to pop in for lunch sans a reservation, and luckily we were seated at the counter. We had a lovely view of the street so could people watch. We had heard the sandwiches were ginormous, so we shared the Rossi. Thank goodness we did! I took some of my half home! Loaded with meats, loved the pistachio on top, but could have done with a little more lemon vinaigrette - did not need the moisture but needed a little more acid. I had a glass of their red sparkling and hubs had a glass of the prosecco. Both were delicious. Service was on point, and they were BUSY! We shall definitely go back again..

The only thing I can say is I wish I could give this gem more than 5 š stars. My friend took me to lunch today. The food was perfect. Large portions so go hungry and save room for šØ dessert. Fantastic. The atmosphere is beautiful and located in the midst of many art galleries. What could be better than that. Perhaps the only thing better was our server Domenica. She had just a few extra minutes to chat with us and when I left I felt like I became part of a restaurant family. Make reservations. Because it is always packed for lunch. The do dinner only 2 days a week with a fixed menu. I'm Italian, I thought my grandmother was somehow in the kitchen. Magnificent.! Thank you everyone. That chocolate dessert worth every calorie.

The best food weāve ever had, i mean EVER and weāve been to Italy. Amazing atmosphere and amazing service. We walked in and were told it would be a 20 minute wait, we walked around looking at the gorgeous art in the building and it only took 10 minutes to get seated. I couldnāt recommend it enough!!

Wonderful experience until the end The food was genuinely excellent, the staff is kind, and the atmosphere is exactly what you hope for in a small, intimate restaurant. For most of our evening this was a five star experience and we were already looking forward to coming back. Unfortunately, the way the meal ended left a lasting impression that we felt was worth sharing, not out of frustration, but because we genuinely want to see this place succeed. We had a 5:45 reservation, arrived at 5:30, and ordered the wine pairing 4 course meal immediately. Just after 7:00, before we had even finished dessert, the check was dropped at the table with a mention that the next reservation had arrived. Shortly after, the owner came over with the payment device and said the same thing again. When I gently shared that this felt rushed, there was no acknowledgment or apology. The response was simply that it is a small restaurant and they need to turn the table. We completely understand the economics of a small restaurant. That said, when spending well over $100 per person on a prix fixe meal, roughly two hours at the table does not feel like an unreasonable expectation. In our experience dining at similar restaurants, that has always been the norm. The food and the concept are genuinely special. We hope they revisit how they handle the transition between seatings, because everything else here is worth returning for.

Fantastic lunch sandwiches, and a large enough portion to justify the price. They use what seems to be their pizza dough. Better than any other sandwich shop Iāve been to in Asheville.
