Uptown Social
★ 4.7 · 29 reviews Boston Opened May 2026
Southern cooking on Columbus Avenue, open since May 2026.
Uptown Social opened on Columbus Avenue in May 2026, on the stretch that runs toward Roxbury rather than the tourist end of the South End. Southern menu, meaning fried chicken and sides that aren't an afterthought.
The collards and the mac are the reason to order a plate rather than a sandwich. Sunday afternoons are busiest.

The food was really good, I had the beet salad which was amazing and I don’t even like goat cheese. It was good to see healthy alternatives on the menu. The waitress, her name is Erica was phenomenal! She happened to be alone on the night I went and handled herself with professionalism and grace. She took the time to answer questions and not once did she seem annoyed given what she had on her plate, give that woman a raise and promotion! The atmosphere was inviting with a peaceful energy and the entertainment ( spoken word) was on point! Loved it, I will return❣️

This is fast becoming my new favorite local spot. The vibe is somehow cozy and elevated at the same time. The bar is fun, friendly bartenders, and they have live music. The drinks are creative and really good. I’m a Negroni lover and I think the It’s Gucci is my current top Negroni variation - spirit forward, complex and a little sweetness. The food is also excellent - get the Mambo wings. The entrees change often and are flavorful, nicely presented and a good portion.

This place is such a gem, nostalgic. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for winding down after a long day or weekend. From the great liquor/wine selection to the amazing food and live music, the entire experience feels elevated and intentional. Even on nights without live entertainment, the music they play still sets the perfect mood. One thing I will say, if you’re looking for upscale Southern soul food with a modern, refined touch, this spot absolutely delivers. But if you’re expecting very traditional Southern cooking, you may find the menu a little different from what you’re used to. Overall, it’s a great experience and definitely worth visiting for the ambiance, drinks, and unique take on Southern cuisine. 💗💗

A hidden gem in the south end that serves up astoundingly affordable, mouth-watering soul food. We made a late night reservation for a birthday, arrived at around 1020 and they still allowed us to place the last kitchen order (blessed). We entered a space full of incredibly good live music and good vibes. The interior is intimate but not too small. The southern style egg rolls were to die for with the sweet & sour sauce that accompanied it. The chicken in my Chicken & Waffles dish was cooked to absolute perfection, and was served on the fluffiest small waffles with a sweet berry compote that made me close my eyes with each bite. I met with the co-owner who had invited me to swing by and felt like I was being welcomed into a good neighbor's house. Including the tip, our bill was under 140 which is ridiculous for dinner in the south end at the level of quality it was. HIGHLY recommended. Go support this Black-owned business and enjoy yourself!
