Holdfast opened on Brighton Avenue in November 2025 doing New England seafood without the tablecloths or the harbour view markup. Fried, chilled, in a roll or on a plate.

The lobster roll costs noticeably less than the waterfront version and comes out of the same supply chain. That's most of the argument for the trip to Allston.

My first lobster roll and it was very good. It was hot. I was told it can be served cold also but mine was hot with brown butter served with pickles and lime. We were very impressed. Food is so expensive but this was a good lobster roll and worth every penny. Congratulations to the owners. I believe they were preparing the food and asked how we found out about it. We looked it up and read the good reviews. I give this a 10-star review to add onto the praise

Great quick serve seafood spot! Quaint little restaurant with great service and quality seafood. My friend and I had the special and a warm lobster roll. He said it was his top lobster roll he's ever had. Photos of the special, so delicious, a play on a Big Mac with a fresh fish cake, endless sesame seeds, caviar, lettuce, pickles and a slightly spicy sauce that brought it all together. Highly recommend it!

Cool spot for the best seafood around! The lobster roll, shrimp roll and fish and chips were true winners; the gluten free roll was honestly the best I’ve ever had. The crudo and oysters were outstanding, the fries delicious and the GF clam chowder was outta this world! The smoked fish on brioche - chef’s kiss! Everything was so fresh, perfectly seasoned and prepared. Very generous portions and awesome, friendly staff! Highly recommend!
