Perch
★ 4.9 · 17 reviews Boston Opened 2026
A small tasting-menu room on Waltham Street, open since January 2026.
Perch opened in January 2026 on Waltham Street with a tasting menu and not many seats. Boston has few restaurants this size doing this format, and fewer still on a residential block.
One seating a night, so the booking window matters more than usual. Check the site rather than the third-party apps.

Perch was a phenomenal experience for a private booking (birthday party). Each dish was carefully crafted and prepared to accommodate our group’s many dietary restrictions and they were delicious! The atmosphere and intimacy of the place was bright and refreshing. It felt like being at a friend’s dinner party. Renee, Chef Sam, and Chef Meegan were so friendly and informative with each dish. It was a perfect meal to celebrate a close friend :)

Fun concept. South End test kitchen from two chefs coming out of the Nantucket private-chef world. Their five-course menu resets every month, and I caught the first seating of the new month's, so it still felt like it was hunting for its thesis. With no formal culinary or fine-dining background behind them, the chefs seemed to be narrating their personal story more than resolving a coherent menu. Charming in the room, a little less convincing on the plate. The dishes that worked, worked. The spring pea chawanmushi and the duck were both great. Not especially creative, but as good as anything you'd expect from an entry level fine dining spot. The tuna crudo was the biggest disappointment. Experimental and basic at the same time. Plain akami, oddly sliced, propped on a puff and a custard. The tuna itself was low quality, and since it was cut thin and never marinated the way it would be in akami zuke, there wasn't much flavor to pull from. Overall, a concept I want to root for, run by chefs still figuring out what they're aiming at. For now the idea's ahead of the cooking, but I'd come back once the execution catches up.

I mean I can not write a more glowing review if I tried. My night spent at Perch is one that I will hold dear for a long time. It felt intimate, educational, fun and most importantly it was delicious. Sam, Meegan and Renee curated a wonderful menu and experience for all with each dish explained in detail and all questions answered. The attention to both the craft and the guest experience was so impressive. Similarly, the wine that was chosen paired perfectly with each dish. The seating is around the stove to get a personal in depth experience of the process. It also gives you a chance to interact with other restaurant goers and maybe even make a new friend! That being said, my boyfriend and I sat in the window seats and could not have loved it more. We felt like we had our own private dinner, while also feeling completely in the mix. In such an intimate setting, there is not one bad seat in the place. I can not recommend Perch enough. If you are looking for a wonderful night that makes you feel like you have been transported into small town in Europe, hosted by experts in both culinary and hospitality, Perch is your place. Renee, Meegan and Sam - Bravo, you have created a GEM in Boston and I wish nothing but the continued success for Perch!

Perch is one of the most unique dining experiences I’ve had in Boston, or anywhere really. The food is excellent on its own (seasonal, locally sourced, and incredibly intentional)/. But what really made the experience special for me was the sense of connection running throughout the evening. The team takes time to explain the courses and where things come from, which makes the whole meal feel much more connected to Boston and the surrounding community. The setting is also great! The dinner is intimate and communal, and by the end of the night, you’ve usually ended up talking with the people around you. Overall, just an amazing experience!

My husband and I were lucky enough to attend a recent 3-2-1 Wednesday. We were able to get tickets from the “Notify Me” Resy waitlist (the waitlist works!) and the evening was incredible. The food was comforting and flavorful, with the crab dish being an absolute stand out (I could have eaten 10 of those). The service (shout out to Renee) was great and it really felt like you were at home in your own kitchen with friends sharing good wine and food. We are eager to return, and looking forward to all our future visits to Perch.
