Debbie Lee's Korean pojangmacha lands in a Highland Park bar
Yi Cha opened on North Figueroa on 30 October 2025. The name means second round in Korean, which is roughly the point: Korean bar food, soju cocktails, a room built to run late rather than seat you for a formal dinner.
Chef Debbie Lee first got attention with Ahn-Joo, the modern Korean food truck she started in 2010, and has since turned up on Food Network Star and Chopped. The 2,800-square-foot space holds 72 people, sixteen at the bar, under a mural by Zi Be Zi, who worked on Parasite. Senga Park runs the cocktail list. DJs play Friday nights.

Made it out to YICHA to check out this establishment. We kept things light with a few appetizers and some shot, and everything was spot on. The food quality is excellent and the vibe of the place is perfect for catching up with old friends. It’s a great addition to the LA scene—definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a solid spot for drinks and bites.

Initially made a wrong reservation for the day after. But the kind hostess made the effort and were able to squeeze us in later on of the night. You can feel the passion and effort in a high standard on the food, drinks and customer service (handsome and down-to-earth owner, I think his name is Tom or Thomas). I'm caught in a dilemma with this review because this place is truly underrated, yet it's that place that I would low key wanna gatekeep to enjoy.

Cool spot for Korean inspired bar food. Inside is modern and stylish. It's a narrow space but a good amount of seating. A nice bar with a few TVs to watch a game. They also have a good, although limited, happy hour (5-8 Wed & Thurs, Sun all day) served only at the bar. The food and cocktails are delicious. Portions are a little small though. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's street meter parking or pay lot behind the building.

A perfect new addition to Highland Park! Yi Cha blew us away. The moment we sat down, we felt welcomed and taken care of. The food was outstanding — bold flavors, beautiful presentation, and everything tasted so fresh. The team here clearly loves what they do, and it shows in the hospitality. The mural by ZibeZi is absolutely stunning and gives the space such an amazing vibe. We’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!
