Korean pastries Portland's been missing

Portland has French bakeries on every corner and Japanese ones too, but Korean baking has been the gap. BBANG! fills it, with a case full of pastries and breads still rare in the city, plus coffee to go with them.

Go in the morning. Popular items sell out by early afternoon, and the case looks a lot better fully stocked.

Good burgers. I preferred the bulgogi burger to the kimchi burger. It was very filling, the side of tots were huge. The curry ketchup went well with it. The cheese corn was good too. The kimchi eventually sold out.

Wow! Just got back from Japan and forgot to try their McDonald’s shrimp burger so I had to try it here. OMG, this by far is the best, even my daughter who lived in Japan can attest saying, “Mom this is way better!” The patty was loaded with shrimp, probably weighed half a pound. We also ordered their Doyaji Korean Fried Chicken and it was hella juicy and their gochujang hot honey was a perfect match. Service was great and there’s outside seating. I don’t know of any other place in Portland that serves shrimp burgers, so if you’re craving one this is the right place!

The place is amazing. I loved the menu, the product is really good. They use quality ingredients, everything tastes amazing. Time to time you get inconsistent amount of salt. Good job on branding, atmosphere, interior. But I’m giving 3-star right now just to bring attention to the matter of service we received. We had a couple of times when a register person gave us very unwelcoming experience straight away after we entered even though they were not busy at all and it was just the start of the day. No reason at all. It seems like we were bothering them for just coming. I like this place and want to come back. One of the best spots in the city. And one of the best burgers I had.

The food here is delicious. We tried the bulgogi burger, and kimchi smashburger. Both were delicious, but the kimchi smashburger was the best. The tots with curry ketchup and ranch were really good too, albeit a bit saltier than expected. Service was great and there are clean restrooms in the back.

My partner and I recently had a trip to Korea and the cravings kicked in when we returned to PDX. We found this place, and thoroughly enjoyed their sandwiches. They were so flavorful, yet so simple — a sign that the chefs know what they’re doing! The chicken sandwich was a favorite, esp with how juicy it was. Very reminiscent of the fried chicken we had during our Korea visit. Also, a plus that it’s open late!! Will def visit again with family + friends!
