Coffee by day and a bar by night on 24th Street
Stray Dog opened on 24th Street in July 2026 and runs the double shift: coffee and baking through the morning, drinks later. That combination has become the default for small Mission storefronts, mostly because one rent is hard to justify on breakfast alone.
This end of 24th, east of Potrero, is quieter than the Valencia corridor and keeps more of the neighborhood's Latino businesses. Stray Dog is one of the newer arrivals on it, not a replacement for something long-standing.

Needed to get some work done late on a Friday evening, so I brought my laptop and got an espresso. After I finished the coffee, one of the staff swung by, grabbed my empty cup, and left an ice-cold water. Really thoughtful service and an ideal late-night chill vibe that I haven't found anywhere else in the city.

Stopped by for the fig bagel and latte, and both exceeded expectations. The bagel was perfectly toasted with a great balance of crispness and chew, topped with light whipped cream cheese, fresh ripe figs, a drizzle of honey, and microgreens that brought everything together. Every bite was fresh, balanced, and beautifully presented. The latte was smooth, rich, and expertly made with excellent latte art. The café itself has a warm, stylish atmosphere that’s perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done. A fantastic addition to the Mission, and I’ll definitely be back.
