Jalebi Street

Indian chaat on Upper Haight, open since summer 2025
Jalebi Street opened on Haight Street in summer 2025, doing chaat, the north Indian street-food register of fried, sour and sweet things eaten standing up. Jalebi, the coiled syrup-soaked spirals it is named for, are made through the day.
Upper Haight food has been dominated by pizza slices and burritos for decades. Chaat suits the street's actual eating pattern better than most of what is there. Portions are small and cheap enough to order three.

Ordered Chole Bhature, dahi puri and chaas which were very good and on point. Also ordered bhel puri. Was good but I have had better ones, it terms of the flavor.

Jalebi Street has a lovely ambience, quick service and tasty food. İ have been here twice and both times the food was excellent. İ have tried the Pani puri, bagel, Dahi Sevpuri, Bedmi puri with aloo sabji, köfte with bature and jalebis. They had run out of rabri but the jalebis were thin, crisp and absolutely delicious just by themselves. Even on a weekday the restaurant had a good crowd.

Jalebi Street had the best Indian food I have had in a long time! We had onion kachori with sabzi (the server was happy to replace dal kachori with onion for us), bedmi puri with aalu and proper Delhi style chole bhature which were to die for. For desserts we had piping hot fresh jalebi with rabri and milkcake. Everything was spot on! I could have cried, it was so delicious. The also had Thumbs up but I was too full for anything else. The server was great and made excellent suggestions. Although unassuming from the street, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and made me nostalgic for home. Highly recommended! Can’t wait to go back to try the rest of the menu!

Legit chaat joint, with a great signature take on traditional spicing. Flavors are great, punchy but still preserve the original essence of each dish. Highly recommend the dahi sev puri to start, or any puri really. Great chole samosa as well.
