Marina Beach opened on Buchanan Street in June 2026, taking its name from the long stretch of sand in Chennai rather than the San Francisco neighborhood it happens to sit in. The pun works in both directions, and the kitchen is South Indian.
The address sits at the top of Buchanan near the Marina Green, a pocket with far more residents than restaurants. Most Indian cooking in the city clusters in the Tenderloin, the Mission and down the peninsula. This stretch of the Marina had been waiting for its own kitchen.

Incredible new spot for delicious food and a great selection of wine to pair! Loved the creative south Asian inspired menu. The service was also amazing! can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu

Just tried this restaurant last night and honestly had such a great time. Wine was excellent, vibe was cool and intimate, and every dish was delicious. Got the mussels as an entree and they were really good. Dessert was a cardamom ice cream and I wish I could take a pint home with me. Can’t wait to go back!

We had such a great time here! We ended up ordering everything on the menu so we could try it all, and honestly every single dish was delicious. You can really tell the menu was curated thoughtfully and with so much care. I loved the South Asian influence throughout the dishes, it was so creative, balanced, and incredibly flavorful 10/10!! The service was also amazing from start to finish. Everyone was so warm, welcoming, and attentive. The restaurant itself is so cute inside with a cozy, stylish atmosphere and great vibes that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The wine selection was also fantastic and paired so well with the food. Don’t skip dessert either! Every dessert we tried was incredible, and the ice cream was so good that I would genuinely buy it by the pint if they sold it. Such a fantastic addition to the neighborhood! I can’t wait to come back and bring more people. I’ll definitely be recommending Marina Beach to all of my friends.
