Maggie & Mac's opened on Ninth Avenue in June 2026, on the four-block run of Inner Sunset restaurants that ends right at the park entrance by the de Young. The cooking is American, and the room is built for families more than for a bar crowd.
Ninth Avenue draws two different crowds: people who live in the Sunset, and people walking back out of Golden Gate Park around five. Every restaurant on this street gets busy at that same hour.

The Hanger Steak, which is Chimichurri( yum) one the best I've ever had. Price point is great. Atmosphere, super chill. The Staff seemed like they genuinely enjoyed working together and interacted with guests with ease. The upstairs was an unexpected cool factor. It makes the area seem way more open then most SF restaurants. Been dinning around the Union St area (Meh) last few days while on vacation and will definitely repeat here in the future 🙌

The food and service were both fabulous! On top of it, they had lovely ambient live music! We got the onion strings and Caesar salad to share. Both were delicious! My friend ordered the French dip and fries which she loved! I got the fish tacos and they were delicious. I would have a hard time not getting them next time, but I'm excited to try more menu items! I'll be back very soon!

June 2026: Came here for dinner. They've been open for 15 days so perhaps they are still working out the details. Started with the stone fruit salad and the tuna tataki salad. I liked the tuna tataki salad. Ingredients tasted fresh with good dressing. Ordered the French dip with fries. I liked my sandwich. Au jus and horseradish sauce went well with the sandwich. My wife ordered the meatloaf and was not pleased. The menu description was "garlic mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus, mushroom gravy". My wife was surprised that the dish had bacon 🥓 on the meatloaf. It made the unappealingly greasy. The menu should really have a complete detailed accurate description of the dish. Service was friendly.
