An Italian bar on Pacific Avenue in Jackson Square

Bar Coto opened on Pacific Avenue in spring 2026, on the old Barbary Coast block where Jackson Square's brick warehouses meet the edge of Chinatown. The format is Italian, closer to a bar with food than a full restaurant.

Jackson Square has quietly become one of the better places to eat downtown, helped by the Transamerica redevelopment a block away pulling people back into these streets in the evening. The buildings here survived 1906, which is why the scale is so different from the rest of the Financial District.
