Ama opened on Sansome Street in 2025, Brad Kilgore's San Francisco project after building his reputation in Miami. The cooking is Japanese, set in the brick blocks of Jackson Square rather than downtown proper.

Ama are Japan's free-diving shellfish harvesters, and that sets the direction of the menu. Dinner only. Ask for the counter seats.
