Maritime Boat Club

A first-floor seafood room above Stockton Street
Maritime Boat Club opened on the second floor at 417 Stockton in 2025, above the street between Union Square and the Stockton tunnel. Seafood is the menu and the boat club framing is done with a straight face.
Being upstairs means it is invisible from the pavement, which in this part of town is a deliberate choice: the ground-floor rents on Stockton are punishing and the walk-in trade is tourists. Reservations skew to people who were told about it.

My boyfriend and I dined here for Valentine’s Day, and we really enjoyed it! They offered a set menu for the holiday, which was great, and we added the scallops, oysters, and short rib. The oysters were fresh and tasty, and the scallops were absolutely delicious — the guava sauce was such a unique and fun pairing. I also loved the sashimi, especially the spicy green sauce, and the beet risotto was so good. I wasn’t a big fan of the sole, but my boyfriend loved the short rib. The restaurant itself is super cute and decorated with charming ocean-themed touches. We’d definitely come back!

Seafood focus with great wine list and cocktail menu, in a classy vintage nautical theme. Will be coming back soon.

I am beyond happy that this place exists. Our party had the most wonderful time celebrating there last night. When we walked through the hotel lobby at street level, I wasn’t sure we were in the right place, but once we came up the stairs, we were transported to a whimsical-lost-in-time-bar miles away from the squalor & corporate bustle of Union Square. Yes, it’s nautical themed bar / speakeasy restaurant with creative, killer cocktails and just the right amount of kitsch, but don’t miss the food (it’s divine) or the wine list (manageable, thoughtful and FAIRLY PRICED with an emphasis on small, local producers and compatibility with the menu). The staff was incredibly accommodating of our constantly changing needs (a chaotic friend group with some people running late, one down for the count at the last minute, etc). Our group of 5 ordered nearly everything on the menu, and there wasn’t a dish that wasn’t a reorder. The ingredient sourcing is top notch (fresh, local, seasonal) and the flavors were surprisingly nuanced and layered. Got the Kraken (seafood tower) to share with the table and the platter arrived on the shoulders of a golden octopus. Highly recommend.
