Pho 5Spices

Real Vietnamese pho, steps from the squares
Skip the tourist chains and find the pho pot instead. Tobey and Jenny Vu run this Broughton Street storefront themselves, cooking a scratch menu built around pho, rice plates and vermicelli bowls.
It's a small space by Broughton Street standards, but it fills a real gap downtown. Walk over from the squares for a bowl that actually tastes homemade.

As someone who genuinely appreciates great food and especially enjoys discovering authentic cuisine while traveling, I was extremely impressed with Pho 5Spices. This is exactly the kind of restaurant I love finding when visiting a new city; authentic, flavorful, beautifully presented, and clearly passionate about the food and culture behind it. The pho was absolutely phenomenal. The broth was the real star: deeply flavorful, aromatic, and incredibly satisfying. Good pho is all about the broth, and you can immediately tell when one has been given the attention and care it deserves. This wasn't simply a bowl of noodles and meat; it was a beautifully balanced bowl of Vietnamese comfort food with tremendous depth of flavor. The fresh accompaniments only elevated it further. The pork chop was another standout. It was incredibly flavorful, tender, and seasoned beautifully, with that wonderful combination of savory, slightly sweet, and smoky flavors that makes Vietnamese grilled pork so addictive. It was the kind of dish that makes you stop after a bite and appreciate just how well the flavors have been put together. What I particularly appreciated was the authenticity of the food. Pho 5Spices doesn't feel like a restaurant that's simply borrowing Vietnamese flavors; there is a genuine sense of Vietnamese culinary tradition behind the menu. Other diners have similarly praised the authenticity and rich pho broth, and after experiencing it myself, I completely understand the enthusiasm. The atmosphere is also fantastic. The Vietnamese-inspired décor and large colorful murals create a beautiful, peaceful setting that makes the restaurant feel like much more than just a quick meal. There is a real sense of place here, and it complements the food perfectly. The staff and hospitality added to the experience as well. Everyone was welcoming and made the meal feel relaxed and enjoyable. That combination of excellent food, genuine hospitality, and an inviting atmosphere is what turns a good restaurant into a memorable one. If you're visiting Savannah and enjoy Vietnamese cuisine, Pho 5Spices absolutely deserves your attention. The pho alone is worth the visit, but the outstanding pork chop and overall quality of the menu make this a restaurant I would happily return to.

Really enjoyed trying this new pho spot! The food was delicious, the decor was beautiful, and everything was clean and welcoming. The owner came by our table to check on everything she also shared what she has planned for the restaurant. The pho had great flavor, the dumplings were good, my daughter loved it! 🍜❤️ We’ll be back

The staff are really friendly, though they seem a bit introverted and not entirely professional. That said, they are very nice and completely leave you alone while you eat, which I really appreciated. You can also grab your own condiments and water. The pho portion size is good, and it’s not overly salty or heavily seasoned. However, the beef was a bit overcooked and tough. For a $20 bowl of pho, it would’ve been nice to get a little more meat.
