House-made pasta near Forsyth Park, run by two people who fell for Savannah
A couple who'd traveled through several cities before choosing Savannah opened this pasta spot near Forsyth Park. The room is small, the menu skips the red-sauce standards you'll find downtown, and it fills up on weeknights just as much as weekends.
It's turned into one of the harder reservations to land for anyone staying near the park. Go for pasta done properly, not another marinara plate.

My wife and I stopped by for dinner without reservations and they make quick accommodations for us. The environment is laid back and relaxing. The server was very friendly and paid great attention to detail throughout dinner. The food was amazing! We had the shrimp scampi, chicken parmesan and a pizza. All were top notch! The bread with the shrimp was so good. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Had dinner here, Friday night, with family. The service was OK but server seem to be a bit green. The highlights were the Arancini and the focaccia which was delicious. I had the chicken Parmesan, which was decent, but my sister-in-law had the shrimp scampi and a Caesar salad, the shrimp scampi was cold and had way too much fresh thyme, I tasted it and it did not taste like a shrimp scampi should taste. Her Caesar salad also tasted a bit strange. My Niece had the pasta with zucchini and some roasted potatoes. Both she said or only OK. For the price that you pay, the food should be exceptional. I was disappointed in our experience.

Nouveau Italian... but that's it. My son took us out for Fathers Day, I said I wanted Italian. First of all, the place is well lit, clean, nicely decorated and probably around a year old. The menu is extremely limited, with a lot of items most Italians have never heard of. I had to ask the waiter what "Agnolotti" is, and what it's filled with. Btw, the finished product was definitely not filled with ricotta cheese, as the waiter described. My wife and my son ordered the chicken parm, which actually looked like chicken parm. Every single item is à la carte, even the small side of spaghetti with the chicken parm. The waiter is sort of faking it until he makes it. He was happy to boast about all of their pasta being made in house, then when my wife asked for linguine or fettuccine, he apologized because they only have spaghetti. He's quick to refill your water, but he couldn't remember to bring my glass back so I'd have a vessel to my extra water in. The shrimp scampi appetizer was interesting, different, but interesting. Most of their dishes are heavily salted, which can be helpful. When I asked for salt and pepper, they're not out on the table, first I made sure that they weren't à la carte, then I struggled to find the shakers. They're approximately 1" high x 1/2" in diameter. Be warned, if you want a real Italian meal in Savannah, head over to Bella Napoli Italian Bistro at 18 East State Street. They even have ravioli and a few meatballs.

Separated seating with a front room, hallway and a room in the back that has a bar. Busy on a monday night. Noisy. Attentive at the beginning but fell quickly off after ordering food and drink. After 12 minutes after ordering a bottle of wine, a single glass showed up. Reminded a bottle was ordered. 9 minutes later the bottle showed up at the table with apologies for the delay. Food took 40 minutes from order.

We are locals that enjoy coming to Veratina. The food is wonderful and service is always friendly! My only recommendation would be to let people know that still or sparkling water costs more —$8 to be specific. This is common in Europe but not in the US and surprised us when we got our bill. Just let your customers know it’s an up charge for Tuscan water 🙂
