Ramen and dumplings return after a year-long fire closure

The ramen, dumplings and hand rolls that built a following in the Victorian District are back. Strange Bird reopened at 1220 Barnard Street on March 13, 2026, more than a year after a fire shut it down.

The FARM Bluffton team behind it didn't reinvent the menu, just brought it back. Regulars who'd been waiting it out packed the place on reopening night.

As a self-proclaimed foodie, I am always using Google to seek out the best restaurants in every area, and I recently came across a very unique place called The Strange Bird. It is built into an old train car, and the food is even more unique—very flavorful and simply different from anything I have had before. For an appetizer, I got the chorizo queso, which was really good. For my meal, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, which had an Asian infusion style. As far as chicken sandwiches go, I would give it an 8.6 out of 10. It was not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst, and I really enjoyed it. I wanted to share this recommendation with you in case you are looking for a new spot to try.

My second time here - this time I tried the French Onion Burger. First time I got the Birria burger. Both were delicious and I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a local place to eat!

Such a pleasant surprise during our July 4th trip to Savannah. Very cute from the outside, wonderful staff and remarkable food. The Biria Burger was to die for. Advice to the owner - Please carry coffee on your menu.

Nice little old-school diner in Savannah not too far off I-95. The Mexican inspired dishes made from scratch are well worth the drive. I had the brisket quesadilla, which was amazing! My daughter had the chicken sandwich with the combination of breading, and meat itself was perfectly done. My wife had the queso fundido, which is perfect size nachos if you're just looking for something quick and easy. Totally recommend this place if you're ever in Savannah or even if you're just driving up I-95 looking for a nice little lunch spot. It's definitely worth getting off the beaten path for! I'll be back again for sure!

A really cool setting for this restaurant diner style with a counter even. We ordered a French onion burger and the Monday special. Fried chicken on flat bread. I really enjoyed the burger, my chicken special was fairly pedestrian. Service was fine. Maybe just not my cup of tea, a good variety menu. Would try again if back this way.
