East Indian and Bangladeshi cooking on 12th Ave
Kha-Bar opened on 12th Ave in March 2026, run by a Kathak dancer and her husband. The cooking leans East Indian and Bangladeshi, which is rare here: pani puri, luchi with aloo dum, goat biryani.
It sits a block from the NOD Theater, so it fills up after shows. Cocktails are served late.

Staying in Seattle for the month of July. My partner and I have walked passed this place several times always commenting on the amazing smell. Decided to grab dinner there tonight and thrilled we did. The food - 🤌 exquisite. Great flavors, good portions. The ambience - loved the style, the decoration, and the chill low music The service - it wasn't too crazy, but nonetheless the service was there when we needed. Friendly and quick. There was one tiny mistake made with the food and it was so quickly taken care of. They went above and beyond! Highly recommend!

The restaurant is beautiful, and the menu is vast with many classic Bengali dishes. I ordered mutton chop and fish fry from the appetiser menu and loved both! The outer layer was super crunchy and the filling was flavorful. For entrée, I went with their popular Dab Chingri that came with a bowl of rice and was the main highlight of our meal. Totally worth a visit! 😋

Kha-Bar transcends the typical Indian dining experience, offering beautifully elevated Bengali cuisine in a lush, sophisticated atmosphere. While the ambiance is striking, it is the warm, benchmark hospitality that truly sets them apart.Having visited multiple times since their opening earlier this year, several dishes have become personal favorites. The Avocado Salad is incredibly vibrant and fresh. The Samosas are beautifully flaky and robustly spiced. Being from New Orleans, I rarely find soft-shell crab in Seattle, but Kha-Bar’s version is outstanding—three generous, perfectly fried, crunchy pieces complemented by a house-made aioli. The Chhana Dalna is a masterfully prepared Bengali cottage cheese curry, and the mutton curry features an impeccable balance of spices. Kha-Bar offers an addictive, unique dining experience that Capitol Hill is lucky to have.

Finally an authentic Bengali restaurant in Seattle! Can’t rate this place highly enough. We had egg chop, fish fry, chili chicken and chicken Kathi roll for appetizer. Every one of them was finger licking good. Among the main dishes, the mutton curry was heavenly, with juicy succulent mutton in perfectly cooked gravy. Imagine our joy in getting proper Bengali luchi and alur dam. The desserts have authentic Bengali sweets such as patisapta, labanga lotika and balusai goja. The rabri was the only one that missed the mark. Balusai was fantastic. Our server Khan was so sweet and attentive. We had such a great dinner. Can’t wait to get back.
