Wings, gumbo and catfish, takeout only

Peninsula Soul Food opened in April 2026 on 36th Ave SW in West Seattle, a takeout kitchen with no dining room. Wings, gumbo, fried catfish, sold as combos with cornbread and candied yams.

Order ahead if you're going at dinner. The hush puppies come out properly toasty.

We pulled up were immediately greeted by the owner who was very welcoming, informative, and courteous. I ordered the seafood platter which included catfish filet, shrimp, and fries. My sis ordered catfish as well with cornbread and collard greens, while my sides were hush puppies and Mac and cheese. Along with two pink lemonades to drink. The good was delicious and there was enough for two meals. It was even better the next day. Highly recommend!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had such a wonderful experience with Peninsula Soul Food! I drove about 40 minutes because I'd heard great things and, since I'm not from Seattle, I mistakenly thought it was a sit-down restaurant. I was initially disappointed to learn it's takeout and delivery only, but that disappointment disappeared the moment I tasted the food. The customer service was truly above and beyond. I wish I had gotten the name of the amazing woman who helped me because she made the experience memorable. She was incredibly kind and welcoming. The food was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. I was fortunate enough to try the mac and cheese, and it did not disappoint. I also got to taste both the banana pudding and the peach cobbler before deciding which dessert to purchase. Of course, I ended up buying both! Now, let me talk about that peach cobbler. It's surprisingly hard to find a really good one. Many are too watery, overloaded with cinnamon, or have an overpowering nutmeg flavor. This one was perfectly balanced. The crust-to-filling ratio was just right, and as someone who loves a good crust, I was impressed. The banana pudding was equally delicious. The portion sizes were generous, the food quality was excellent, and the service made me feel appreciated as a customer. I honestly believe this business deserves tremendous support. If you've been thinking about trying them, do it. Small businesses work hard for every customer, and this one earned my respect. Sometimes if you have an issue with a business, it's worth giving them the opportunity to make it right before leaving a damaging review. Based on my experience, Peninsula Soul Food genuinely cares about its customers. I'll definitely be back!

The catfish and Mac and cheese were really good, however I paid almost $30 for 2 pieces of fish and 2 sides. Cornbread is extra. It was not a good value for the money based on the serving size.

Incredible food, literally everything we ordered was good. We had the catfish, mac n' cheese, fries, cornbread, collared greens, and brought it all home with a sweet tea. Our plates were stacked and we were so happy. The catfish had a great flavour and was well prepared, and every side held its own taste-wise. I ordered a little buffalo dipping sauce and added it to the mac n cheese. Highly recommend. Ordering online was easy and pickup was super smooth. Will be back!
