Arepas, cachitos and aguacate fresco on upper 14th
DC Al Toque opened on upper 14th Street in April 2026 as a Venezuelan bakery-cafe, which is a narrower category than it sounds: arepas, empanadas, cachitos, all made through the day.
Drinks run from aguacate fresco to straightforward coffee. It works for a five-minute stop or a full sit, and the cachitos go early.

We stopped by this spot specifically to catch the football matches on TV. While I’m not the biggest sports fanatic, my other half loves the games, so we grabbed a couple of Modelos and a Corona to enjoy the match. The atmosphere here is absolutely incredible; seeing all the flags hanging from the ceiling makes you instantly feel welcome and included. Everyone was extremely hospitable from the moment we walked in. Our server, Erick, was fantastic—super friendly, kind, and absolutely hilarious. He really elevated the entire experience. For food, we tried a couple of different things. My other half ordered the Pabellón arepa, and it was absolutely to die for! I went with the Venezuelan-style Chinese fried rice. When it first hit the table, the flavor profile caught me off guard because it had an almost burnt taste to it. It could totally just be my personal palate or the specific seasoning style, but it definitely didn't stop me from clearing the plate—I finished the entire thing! Everything else we tasted was great, and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. This place is 100% worthy of five stars for the hospitality and ambiance alone. We had a great time, I highly recommend it, and this definitely won't be my last time coming back! #Facts

Such a great addition to the neighborhood. Loved the food, the service and the atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning here. I had delicious ropa vieja and Venezuelan lasagne and really good cocktails! I want to return for coffee and pastries. Loved it!

Super good food and really well decorated space with amazing vibes. I went with some Venezuelan friends and they said the food was amazing and authentic. Would come back here again in a heartbeat. The drinks were great too!

We’ve been here a couple times for breakfast/brunch and it’s great every time. The breakfast platter was sooo good! It’s a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.
