Momos and a Khukri rum old fashioned
Kathmandu opened on U Street in May 2026 and settled the drinks-or-dinner question by doing both properly. The Himalayan old fashioned is made with Nepali Khukri rum.
Small plates carry the food: momos, masala crab cakes. It is the only place on the strip cooking Nepali at bar hours.

One of the best Nepali restaurants in the DMV!❤️ The food is absolutely top-notch, and the momo are hands down some of the best I’ve ever had. The warm hospitality and welcoming atmosphere make every visit even more special. If you’re looking for authentic Nepali flavors, Kathmandu DC is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!!!

A cute, vibes place for happy hour & dinner. I went for happy hour with friends and it was about $25pp. Dinner was significantly more, about $60pp. The dumplings were AMAZING - both the vegan & chicken.

Kathmandu is one of Dc’s newest restaurants . Their space is small n cute . Food flavours r really good , their momos r delicious, potato bravos must try appetiser , chicken starter was on point . Soya skewers vegan style were so soft and delicious. Keema noodles were good touch to the menu , drinks r good unique n tasty . They have small plates so we almost ordered all the best ones and thankfully nothing disappointed us . Overall , good experience , accommodating and friendly staff still getting used to things here n there . They have very small menu , had jalebi after a long time was good.

Definitely come here if you are in town! The food wasn’t oily but delicious and the cocktails were very well crafted. Their prices are already amazing but there happy hour is insane! I got the Himalayan old fashioned and anarRita, both were very delicious. Steven and Jack were so kind and their recommendations hit the spot!

Absolutely PHENOMENAL. Friends and I tried plenty of drinks and momos, everything was exceptional. Favorites were the buffalo momos and the Himalayan old fashioned. Seriously, 50 countries under my belt and plenty of variations on the old fashioned, and this is *hands down* the best. Lots of care and chemistry go into each crafted drink. Wonderful service (thank you Jack!), and so vibey. Will definitely be back!
