Whitlow's At The Wharf

★ 4.0 · 91 reviews Washington, D.C. Opened March 2025

A 1946 dive bar, rebuilt on the waterfront

Whitlow's has been around since 1946 and spent most of that time in rooms nobody would call polished. The Wharf branch, open since March 2025, is the version with a waterfront address.

It is still a dive in intent if not in rent. Go for the beer list and the crowd rather than for the view you are technically paying for.

This is my after show spot because they serve food until almost midnight. You'll get out of most of the show venues around Whitlow's before they stop serving food which is great. The bar food is always a solid choice. I'm having the grilled chicken quesadilla after an energy draining punk show so it fits what I need. Definitely recommend stopping by. It will crowded on the weekends and Anthem show nights.

It’s a cool bar with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Service is great. Only complaint is how hot it gets in there, especially the second floor. Not sure if the ac is broken but the past few times I’ve been there, the upstairs was unbearably hot. Great place to pregame before a show at The Anthem!

Fun spot to watch sports but also, like, just okay for quality. Pretty expensive and my chicken wings still, no joke, had feathers I'd go back to watch a game... But I wouldn't order food

I don't particularly go to sports bars but I tagged along with a group of friends. The Summer Chicken Salad was delicious. I spilled some Coke and I was cleaning up the bartender helped me and offered a replacement. Service and atmosphere are full of energy and I liked the view from the top floor.

Beers are fairly priced, but I believe if I’m spending $20 for a burger, it should look like a decent burger. It is a kid sized burger with a small paper tray of fries. Decent environment on the wharf though I guess. Wouldn’t recommend eating here, but good for drinking.
